Thanksgiving Dilemma: Granddaughter refuses to make her famous mac and cheese dish for grandma's holiday party that she wasn't invited to

My family and I have cracked the code when it comes to holiday dinner responsibilites. Basically, everyone has the exact same tasks every single year for each holiday. Basically from birth, everyone gets assigned a dish and a chore. I always make scalloped potatoes, and I always help wash dishes after, for example. So, what happens if one person misses dinner? Well, someone has to take over their chore, and we simply don't eat whatever dish they're supposed to cook. Simple as that!

Every family does things a little differently, though. These grandparents like to have their Thanksgiving a little early, and instead of inviting their grandkids as normal guests, they like to order them around to make food. At least, that is what our narrator feels is happening. If her grandma had politely invited her to Thanksgiving dinner, she may have made an effort to come. Instead, she was voluntold to make her mac-n-cheese even though she could not possibly attend the event. Now things are way more tense than they should be between grandparent and grandchild.

  • I looked up the recipe for anyone curious, and it does seem extremely delicious. However, it's also not that hard to make, and grandma could easily make it herself instead of voluntelling her granddaughter to make it.
